About Guarding the Bootlegger’s Widow by Denise Devine:

It’s 1926 in St. Paul, Minnesota and Prohibition is in full swing. A woman can vote, work full time, show her legs in public and cut her hair but she can’t enter a speakeasy without a man by her side…

Charlotte LeDoux is struggling to pick up the pieces of her shattered life. Her late husband, Gus, has left her a lot to deal with—his sprawling business empire, his enemies and an ex-mistress who desperately needs a friend. It’s tough for a woman to compete in a man’s world and even though it’s a never-ending uphill battle, she is determined to succeed.

Char gets a new Model T and is excited when William Van Elsberg offers to give her a driving lesson. She’s attracted to the handsome private detective, who, in many ways, is the polar opposite of Gus. Will takes her out for a spin in the car and instructs her how to drive, but at the same time, teaches her how to love again. She’s never been so happy!

Meanwhile, Gus’ enemies are circling like vultures. An anonymous note threatening Char’s life forces Will to become her personal bodyguard. He’s highly qualified, but Char’s stubborn belief in her own independence makes it the most difficult job he’s ever taken. Can he keep her safe or will he lose her in the most dangerous fight of her life?

Prologue

According to the gossip on the streets of St. Paul, my late husband was a man of many secrets. One of the most widely spread stories I found intriguing, but also amusing, involved a secluded hideout where he supposedly had a wall literally lined with stacks of cash. If he did, Gus had taken this information to the grave because he’d never shared it with me.

Gus had been a bootlegger who’d made his fortune running “Minnesota 13,” the Dom Perignon of bootlegged whiskey from two Minnesota counties—Stearns and Morrison—to distributors in the Dakotas and Chicago. Ruthless and powerful, “Lucky” Gus LeDoux had earned an unfathomable amount of money and gained a notorious reputation, but made permanent enemies along the way. I always knew someday he’d die a violent death. I just never envisioned it would be by my hand.

I hadn’t planned to shoot my husband; I’d acted purely in self-defense. It did no good to dwell on it, but the memory of that horrific, life-altering day still haunted me…

Desperate to escape his life of crime, I’d run away from my husband and found refuge working as a domestic servant in the home of a private investigator. Gus eventually found out and stormed my place of work, forcing me to leave with him. As Federal agents surrounded the area, two men tried to apprehend him and he gunned them down—while I helplessly watched. My husband had a reputation for brutality, but to witness it firsthand horrified me and caused me to fear for not only my own safety, but also the well-being of my unborn child. I refused to go on and told Gus I wanted nothing more to do with him. He roared that if he couldn’t have me, no one would, and he tried to choke me.

Determined to save my baby, I grabbed his gun. We struggled. The gun went off. The memory of that deadly, piercing sound still left me numb; a stark reminder that my son, now three and a half months old, would never know his father. And I was to blame.

Only one other person saw what happened, but I knew Will Van Elsberg would never divulge my secret to anyone. To rescue me from the fray, he had lifted me in his arms and carried me to a secure place to keep me safe, proving himself to be the only true hero I’d ever known.

The events of that dark, rainy afternoon altered my life forever. As Gus’ widow, I inherited a fortune and became the sole parent to my newborn son. Though I was on my own for the first time in my life, I felt safe. I was free.

Then fate pulled me back to the dark side of Gus’ world, the most dangerous place I could be.

Author Questions:
NA; How did you come up with an idea for your book?
DD: I grew up listening to my grandmother talk about the 1920s. She was born in 1902 so she was eighteen at the time the Roaring Twenties began. She wore a flapper haircut with Marcel waves all her life and favored jewelry from the twenties. When the 20s trend started to become popular in the romance and mystery genres, I decided it was time to write my story.

NA; What sort of research did you do to write this book?
DD: The book takes place in Minnesota in the mid-twenties, so I wanted to write about Prohibition and the Roaring 20s from a local perspective. The Minnesota Historical Society had a number of really good books on the subject by local historians. Interestingly, I found that moonshiners in Minnesota made a high-grade bootlegged whiskey called “Minnesota 13” that was better quality than many of the commercial brands at the time!

NA; A fun fact about writing your book.
DD: The names of the two main characters—Charlotte Esther LeDoux and William Charles Van Elsberg are my grandparents’ names. LeDoux is Charlotte’s married name in the book (and her maiden name is Johnson). My grandmother’s correct maiden name was Charlotte Esther Smith before she married Will Van Elsberg. And if you’re wondering—the personalities of these characters are my own creation.

NA; What started you on the path to writing?
DD: As I indicated in my bio, I’ve had a passion for books since I learned to read. Little House in the Big Woods was the first book I read that I couldn’t put down. Growing up, I always thought you had to be rich and connected to publish books (got this impression from TV), but when I was thirteen, my family took a train trip out to Oregon and I found out that my cousin was writing a mystery with her friend. That gave me a new perspective on the idea and I wrote my first story in a notebook on the train on the way home. I still have that story locked away in my hope chest.

NA; What do your friends and family think about your being a writer?
DD: My non-writing friends think it’s fascinating. My family is so used to it, they pretty much ignore it. One of my brothers, however, reads every book I write and is always asking when the next one will be finished. I dedicated one of my books to him.

NA; The biggest surprise you had after becoming a writer.
DD: I had no idea there were so many people writing books—especially romance. I didn’t learn this until my husband showed me an article in the Sunday paper (back in the late 80s) about Romance Writers of America holding a conference in Minnesota at the Mall of America. Unfortunately, this was after the conference happened. The internet wasn’t available yet and the journalist who wrote the article didn’t give any contact information for how to join. I didn’t find a local chapter of RWA in Minnesota until 1991. I found so many new friends through that chapter that I still hang out with today.

NA; Do you outline books ahead of time or are you more of a by-the-seat-of-your-pants writer?
DD: Yes, I do! I need to know what my main characters want, why, and what’s keeping them from it otherwise I find myself in a corner eventually and don’t know how to get out of it. I start every book the old-fashioned way with a pencil and a cheap wire-bound notebook. I start scribbling pages of notes until I get so many I have to reorganize them in a Word doc. That’s when the outline starts to take shape and I can see what’s missing. I always know the beginning and end of every story before I start plotting.

NA; What do you like to do when you’re not writing?
DD: My husband is a travel agent so you know what I like to do best! I’ve been all over the world. When I’m home I love to garden, sew, read, go to movies and have lunch with writing friends.

NA; A pet peeve.
DD: People who think writing is easy. Everybody wants to write a book but very few people have a clue what that entails. My biggest pet peeve are self-published authors who don’t research the market at all and don’t have a single clue how to market their books because they don’t bother to find out.

NA; What errand/chore do you despise the most?
DD: Making supper every night! I hate having to stop what I’m doing and figure out what to cook.

NA; Strangest place you’ve brushed your teeth?
DD: Not really strange but totally fascinating. I stayed in a hotel in Egypt that was nearly walking distance of the pyramids at Giza and it used to be the hunting lodge of a former Arab prince. The architecture absolutely blew me away.

NA; What are you working on now?
DD: I’m starting a new small-town series called West Loon Bay and book one is called Small Town Girl. Growing up, I lived in small Minnesota towns for 5 years. My husband was born and raised in a small town and his family still lives there so I have a pretty good handle on the daily life of rural Minnesota. West Loon Bay is a tourist town on Lake Tremolo (resorts, golf and fishing) so there is always a lot going on.

NA; What question didn’t we ask that you’d like to answer?
DD: What I write specifically. I write sweet books, and by “sweet” I mean no profanity or onscreen sex, but there is plenty of conflict in the relationship. I also write romance, romantic comedy, romantic suspense, historical suspense and cozy mystery. I also have one inspirational romance. I have a private group on Facebook that I host with Raine English called Happily Ever After Stories – Sweet Romance. It’s a fun group with no controversial stuff ever, but we do have fun FB parties

Lorelei, welcome back! Tell us about A Cowboy’s Sweet Spot.
A Cowboy’s Sweet Spot is kind of a spin off from the Saddle Creek series.

The premise for the Saddle creek series is based on a relationship my oldest son has with his longtime friends: four male friends grow up together in the small town of Saddle Creek, WY, located in the shadows of the Grand Tetons. They consider themselves brothers from another mother, sharing and helping each other through the growing pains of adulting after high school. They remain loyal to each other throughout, although they go their separate ways: one goes to college, another buys the horse ranch he’s worked/lived on since a young age, one joins the military, and the fourth becomes the local Sheriff.

Moonlight Kisses and Mug Shots is the fourth in the series, the story of Sheriff Mitch Rogers and his new Deputy Veronica “Ronnie” Travis, who is also the new owner of Travis B&B, located in Saddle Creek and where the Sheriff resides. And how or why did Ronnie from Miami, Florida become the owner of the B&B in Saddle Creek, WY? This book will be released early 2020.

Did you have to do much research for this short story, and the series?
I love the Jackson Hole, WY area. It is beautiful and I’d live there if winter wasn’t eight-nine months of the year. I’ve lived in Florida for forty years and it’s not gonna happen. But I can visit throughout the year and share scenes in my books.

I love Jackson Hole, too! What would you like readers to take away from your contribution to Romances on the Range?
There’s always a happy ever after, no matter what’s happened in your life, no matter how low you’re right now, your soul mate is out there. Be patient. He/she is out there.

Just in time for the spookiest night! Halloween Magic

Halloween Magic by Devin Govaere, Maggie McBay and Laurie KeckNomad Authors welcomes one of Dee’s favorite author friends, Devin Govaere, and her two writing companions, Maggie McBay and Laurie Keck, and their really great book for Halloween–Halloween Magic. Halloween Magic is an anthology of three stories taking place in Forget-Me-Not, Oregon, a town where ordinary and extraordinary people live their unique lives in harmony.

NA: Hi, Devin. How did you come up with the idea for your book?
DGMy co-authors and I love the small-town, romantic vibe that comes from watching the Hallmark Channel, but we also love quirky and interesting characters that live outside the norm. So creating a small town with paranormal residents was intriguing to us. Since Halloween is coming, we decided to each write a story using a classic Halloween theme.

NA: What sort of research did you do to write this book?
DG: When deciding where to place our town, we read articles and perused pictures to determine which “vibe” most connected to our ideas. We all agreed and chose Oregon and then created our town on a rather isolated peninsula. My story, Just Another Scarecrow Love Story, is contemporary, so it didn’t require research. However, my male character is a miner from the nineteenth century, so in order to get a feel for the life he might have led, I read a bit about early mining practices. The research never makes it into the story, but it gave me a sense of who he is.

NA: A fun fact about writing your book.
DG: I’ve always been intrigued by scarecrows. They’re solitary creatures who reflect how lonely life can be at times. I wanted to write a story about a scarecrow who is much more than clothes filled with stuffing. I wanted my scarecrow to find a happily ever after.

NA: Do you have a day job? What was your job before you started writing full time?
DG: I am a full-time freelance editor and write between projects. I’m lucky, however, to work from home, so my schedule is my own.

NA: What started you on the path to writing?
DG: I tinkered with writing throughout my life, particularly during those awkward junior high years. Then I got sidelined by “having a life,” which included dating as a teen and young adult and then getting married and having kids. One night I was watching TV with the kids, had an idea, got out a spiral notebook, and just started writing a story. It was much too long, and even after I edited it, it was much too long. But I loved it.

NA: The biggest surprise you had after becoming a writer.
DG: I’d always thought I was a decent writer. My teachers had told me so, and I never had any trouble communicating. It came easily to me. However, when I started writing fiction (after being a voracious reader all my life), I realized there was so much to the craft I didn’t know. Sometimes understanding concepts, such as staying within a point of view, hovered just beyond my grasp. When that finally clicked, it hit me like a sledgehammer and I wondered how I’d not seen it the whole time.

NA: Do you outline books ahead of time or are you more of a by-the-seat-of-your-pants writer?
DG: I only have a vague sense of where the story is going, possibly a couple of sentences of an idea. It might start with just a small exchange between characters, but once I have an understanding of who those characters will become, I just start writing and see where it goes.

NA: Which kind of scenes are the hardest for you to write? Action, dialogue, sex?
DG: Sex for sure. I’ve written all sorts of stories and books under my own name and various others. I love developing the characters, giving them dialogue, and choreographing their behaviors and actions, but when sex is required (which it often is, depending on the publisher), I had a habit of typing “Insert Sex Scene Here” just so I could move on and not lose my momentum. Consequently, even when I was finished and happy with the completed product, I wasn’t done yet. That’s a big reason why we’ve written our Forget-Me-Not stories as clean romances with just a hint of closed-door activities. When I type “the end,” I know I’m truly finished.

NA: What are your top three favorite books of all time?
DG: The Stand by Stephen King, The Witching Hour by Anne Rice, Clan of the Cave Bear by Jean Auel. All three of these books not only entertained me but opened new worlds and possibilities to me.

NA: Why did you choose the shirt you have on?
DG: It was lying at the bottom of the bed waiting for me. I have several stages of being dressed during the day. The first stage is just to get Daisy, our dachshund, outside.

NA: First thought when the alarm goes off in the in the morning?
DG: “Where’s Daisy?” Daisy sleeps in the bed, but she likes to move around, so unless I feel her pressed against me, I don’t know if she’s scooted to the other side of the bed or is lying under the covers at the bottom. It only takes a moment to find her, because when the alarm goes off, she’s right there.

NA: What errand/chore do you despise the most?
DG: I hate grocery shopping and putting things away. Put things in the cart, take things out of the cart to put on the conveyer, put them back into the cart to carry to the car, put them in the trunk, unload everything and pile it all onto the counter, and then wonder where I’m going to put everything. It seemingly takes forever.

NA: What are you working on now?
DG: My co-authors and I have just finished Halloween Thrills, another anthology of Halloween stories, set to be released on October 13, and we’re currently writing the third anthology, Winter Tales, coming out on November 20.

NA: What sort of reader would enjoy this book?
DG: Any reader who lives for a happily ever after, who yearns for a touch of magic in their life, and who loves stories that blend paranormal elements with humor, a bit of mystery, and healthy, loving relationships would enjoy this book. We think the combination of the three stories offers something for everyone, and we hope you enjoy them.

Prologue
Across the Vast Expanse—1695

Three long years, after a grueling journey across landscapes that defied imagination, the Conclave Elders stood at the top of a high cliff, staring at the peninsula below, a spit of land that dared to exist within the immense sea that ravaged its shores. Rings of islands lay in the distance, and rivers, both small and large, meandered through the visible land as far as the eye could see until it became a field of deep blue. How far that sea stretched they couldn’t begin to know.

It was the farthest they could possibly go in their quest for freedom without worrying about their physical survival. If they couldn’t find safe harbor here, there would be no place for them.

But this place felt right.

The salt air spread a welcoming, familiar balm over their faces. The deep, musky scents of the forest at their backs filled them with a sense of home. The endless expanse of the ocean reminded them of another on the eastern side of continent, and that peninsula offered them a sanctuary, a seclusion to live their lives and create a community filled with harmony and peace and…magic.

The eldest of the Conclave, a warlock most powerful named Silas Deeds, leaned down and plucked a small flower from a field of blue.

“I know this flower. I’ve seen it many places in Europe, but I learned of it in the Germanic region. They called it vergissmeinnicht.”

“What does it mean, Master Deeds?” asked Constance Curtis.

“Forget-Me-Not,” Silas said with a smile.

“Such a small thing for such large aspirations,” Constance said.

“And yet, look how it blossoms here. It fairly covers the ground, holding fast and true to the land.” He glanced at the peninsula below. “We can be like this small flower. We can hold fast and true.”

“There are others here,” Richard Summers said. “We saw so many on the journey, and the smoke we’ve seen drifting through the trees and along the riverbanks indicates there are many already living here.”

Silas nodded. “We can share this land. We can offer friendship and peace, and with time, the people already here may grow to accept us, dare I say to truly like us? We can offer them so much in exchange for their fellowship. And if a relationship with them stays firm, we can form a community nestled within theirs. Our families will have a secure haven to grow and build and learn.”

“It is an honorable wish for the future,” Constance said. “Do you think the possibility exists that we could find acceptance and fellowship here?”

Silas sighed. “It can be no worse than the places we’ve left behind, my dear friend.”

“You speak true,” Richard said.

“We come with open hearts, with open minds,” Silas said, “and it is a sorry people who fails to recognize honest and goodhearted intent.”

“Others have,” Richard said.

Silas glanced at his friend. “And we have left them behind.” He twirled the small blossom in his fingers. “Forget me not… We will never forget what has happened to some of our fellows, but we will move on and forge ahead, holding their memories strong in our hearts. These small flowers give us a sign that even the weakest, even the smallest can have strength, and, my stalwart friends, our group is anything but weak. We will make our home here.”

And they settled onto the beautiful peninsula they called Forget-Me-Not.

Cool, creative Callie Carmen caught in a Dream Catcher

Dream Catcher by Callie Carmen in Mystic DesireI’m so anxious for the Black Velvet Seductions supernatural anthology, Mystic Desire, to come out (October 1)! One reason is, I want to read Callie’s story, Dream Catcher!

NA: Welcome Callie! What genre would you consider your books to be?
CC: First, I’d like to thank Dee for having me on her blog today. I appreciate it. [My pleasure!]
My name is Callie Carmen, and I write contemporary romance, suspense romance, and most recently supernatural romance novels.

NA: How did you get interested in writing this particular genre?
CC: Until 2015 I hadn’t read a romance novel. One day while traveling in my car listening to the Diane Rym show she had on a guest author of Fifty Shades of Grey. I found the conversation interesting, so I picked up a copy of the book and read it. While I didn’t go in that direction after reading it I enjoyed it enough to try Lora Leigh’s Nauti Boys series, Lori Foster’s Love Undercover series. her Visitation series, and the Maya Banks KGI series, and that was it, I was hooked on reading romance. From there, I sat at my kitchen table one day and started writing my first novel, Patrick from my Risking Love series. I enjoyed writing it so much that I kept on going.

NA: How important are character names to you in your books? Is there a special meaning to any of the names?
CC: I have to laugh at that question. I had used a few relative’s names in my first novel The Enemy I Know as part of the Crave Loyalty Anthology, all of which were already deceased. But in my Risking Love series, I started out using a few family female names, two of which were my sister’s daughter’s names. She was having none of that. She said there is no way I want my daughters in a sex book. I explained it was a love story, and she could have cared less. I ended up changing their names. Since then, I only use names that are family members that have passed away so they can’t complain. Lol. Or names that I enjoy, like Jake the hero in my latest novel, Dream Catcher, from the Mystic Desire Supernatural Anthology.

NA: Tell me about your latest book.
CC: Dream Catcher is the story of two lonely people that put work ahead of their personal needs like finding their true love. But when each of them purchases a magical dream catcher made by a shaman, they find themselves falling in love with their soul mate. Unfortunately, their soul mate is only in their dreams.

This is just one of fourteen wonderful stories by talented authors that have joined together in the Mystic Desire Supernatural Romance Anthology. I just know all who read this novel will thoroughly enjoy it. Below you’ll find the blurbs for each of the fourteen stories. Check them out, and you’ll see why I think you’ll love this book.

NA: What is the hardest part of writing for you?
CC: Believe it or not, the blurb on the back cover of the novel is torture for me. Taking a 250-page book, and turning it into three short paragraphs is next to impossible for me.

NA: What do you consider to be your best accomplishment?
CC: Finding my soul mate and having a loving, happy marriage for over thirty years. Having three caring children with him, that turned out to be good citizens and that work hard.

NA: What’s the best thing about being an author?
CC: All the friends you make in and out of the publishing world.

NA: Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
CC: In a smaller home, on a lake, writing. I’ll be sitting in a screened-in front porch while listening to the waves lap up against my dock.

NA: If you didn’t like writing books or weren’t any good at it, what would you like to do for a living?
CC: Well, that calls for two different answers. If I wasn’t any good at it, I’d take a few classes to learn how to do it right. Or I’d get a fantastic editor like Laurie Sanders to teach me what I needed to do to improve. But if I couldn’t write, I would want to be a book buyer for B&N. I used to work as a senior book buyer for the other large book chain that sadly is no longer in business. I loved that career.

NA: Do you read reviews of your book(s)? Do you respond to them, good or bad? How do you deal with the bad?
CC: I always read them, so that I can thank the writer for taking the time to read my book and to review it. Not that many of us are willing to write reviews so I appreciate them and feel the kind individual should be thanked.

I have skipped writing to two individuals that both gave me my only one ratings. One said she looked at the first page of Patrick and refused to read the book because there was a serial killer in the story. I had to laugh at the fact that she wrote the review stating that she hadn’t read it.

The other person read the first few pages which happened to be the serial killer’s point of view, and she decided she couldn’t continue reading the story because of the creepy serial killer. Even though she gave me a one rating, I took that as a compliment because he was supposed to be scary.

NA: Where did your love of books come from?
CC: Both my mother and father read every day. My father loved westerns and mystery novels. My mother loved fiction and took my siblings and me to the library often. She’d bring home a few novels for herself and piles of children’s books to read to us. I remember Barbar books being some of her favorite kid’s books. I enjoyed them too and read them to my own children. I loved that they were done in cursive writing. So many schools now don’t teach cursive, which is unfortunate because all of our original United States documents were written in cursive.

NA: Of all the characters you have created, which is your favorite, and why?
CC: When I’m writing a novel, the main characters become my new favorites. So this is ever-changing.

At the moment, I’m crazy about Tony and Tessa from book four, Anthony. That man is the silent type except when it comes to the right woman. Then he has no problem letting her know exactly what he wants. He is also talented in the kitchen in more ways than one.

Tessa is a wealthy, but down to earth woman that would like nothing better than to play some football with all of her friends. She wants to be and independent, and a successful business owner to show her rich father she can do it on her own. And she loves making hot passionate love. The woman is hot to trot.

Dream Catcher by Callie Carmen in Mystic DesireNA: Does writing energize or exhaust you?
CC: It’s not a curse; I love writing. Especially when I’m writing about things that have happened to me in my past. I have put on a bit of weight from the long hours of sitting at the computer writing, editing, and marketing my books on social media. So that’s a bit of a negative. Don’t you hate it when that happens?

NA: What is your writing Kryptonite?
CC: My eyes get tired after looking at the computer screen for too long. I end up falling asleep with my hands on the keys and waking to something that looks like this:
On my way homeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.

That also happens to Jake in my, Dream Catcher, supernatural romance. He’s a successful romance author and spends a good deal of time at the computer. Once in a while, he falls asleep while writing. But he doesn’t mind because it gives him more time with his dream soul mate Angelica.

NA: What one piece of writing advice do you have for an aspiring author?
CC: This might not be advice that newer writers want to hear, but it is essential for you to be as successful as possible. Set up your social media sites right away. That means do it before you even finish your first book. That is not to say that it is ever too late to do. It just has to be done. If you don’t advertise to let people know about your book, how will they know that it exists? Once they are set up, advertise your books on a regular basis. Set up social media sites such as Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin, Tumblr, Instagram, MeWe, Website, and Goodreads, to name a few. Pick three to start and master those before moving on to others, or you will be too overwhelmed.

Mystic Desire A Supernatural Anthology

Through the Veil – Jan Selbourne
A beautiful March day in 1875 ends in tragedy when the wagon carrying Helen and Marcus plunges down the mountainside. Generations pass before Rachel Finlay finds an old sepia photo of a man and woman. She knows them but she’s never met them and now, for the peace of mind she desperately craves, she goes back to where it began. In time, through the veil, knowing she may never return.

Through the Veil--Jan Selbourne

Jan, Why did you write this story for the Mystic Desire anthology?
When BVS asked for submissions to this anthology, my first thought was ‘Not my genre, I’m a historical fiction author.’ After some not so gentle nudging from my friend and author Dee S. Knight and author Callie Carmen, I thought ‘Why not?’ And I do, sort of, believe in reincarnation. Through the Veil started with an idea and it went from there.

Is there anything in Rachel’s story that strikes home with you personally?
Through the Veil is set in my home state, New South Wales, Australia. The towns mentioned in this story are real, even the ghost town, Dalmorton, where Rachel ‘sees it’ as the thriving gold mining town it once was. It was very satisfying to put my characters on the Great Dividing Range in 1875 and send Rachel on the trip back up the old Glen Innes road in 2019 to find the truth.

Do you normally write short stories? What did you find fun or difficult Through the Veil--Jan Selbourneabout writing this one?
This is my first short story and at first, I was worried about writing a plot within the word count guidelines. However, once I started it was fun and very enjoyable.

Please provide a short bio and your social media links.
Jan Selbourne was born and educated in Melbourne, Australia and her love of literature and history began as soon as she learned to read and hold a pen. After graduating from a Melbourne Business College her career began in the dusty world of ledgers and accounting, working in Victoria, Queensland and the United Kingdom. On the point of retiring, she changed course to work as secretary of a large NSW historical society. Now retired Jan is enjoying her love of travelling and literature. She has two children, a stray live in cat and lives near Maitland, New South Wales
