Annabel is new to Black Velvet Seductions, but she’s coming on board with a bang! I’m interested to learn more about her and her new book, Edgeplay<\/strong><\/em>.<\/p>\n

NA:\u00a0<\/strong>How did you come up with the idea for your book?<\/p>\n

AA:\u00a0<\/strong>I became interested in BDSM when I read the Wicked Lovers series by Shayla Black. I thought to myself, I can do this! And what fun it has been writing in the genre.<\/p>\n

NA:\u00a0<\/strong>What is the main thing you want readers to take away from your book?<\/p>\n

AA:\u00a0<\/strong>That a woman can be powerful and sexy. She can be Dominant and take control of her own sexual desires. I want to empower women, as well as show that men can be submissive and powerful in their own right as well.<\/p>\n

NA:\u00a0<\/strong>A fun fact about writing your book.<\/p>\n

AA:\u00a0<\/strong>I actually started out with the main character as a man! I then switched it when it wasn\u2019t working for the story. Now we have Ava Goode, and she\u2019s here to stay!<\/p>\n

NA:\u00a0<\/strong>What started you on the path to writing?<\/p>\n

AA:\u00a0<\/strong>I actually started out in film school, with aspirations of being a director. I then found out I wasn\u2019t very good at it and fell back on writing. I instantly fell in love with it. So here I am.<\/p>\n

NA:\u00a0<\/strong>What do your friends and family think about your being a writer?<\/p>\n

AA:\u00a0<\/strong>They have been very supportive! Especially my parents. My mother is always my first beta reader (even with the sexy stuff) and she\u2019s my biggest fan.<\/p>\n

NA:\u00a0<\/strong>The biggest surprise you had after becoming a writer<\/p>\n

AA:\u00a0<\/strong>That making it in this business is not so easy. I really thought that I would be ahead of where I am today, but these things, gathering an audience, making sales, it all takes time. It\u2019s important not to give up though!<\/p>\n

NA:\u00a0<\/strong>Do you outline books ahead of time or are you more of a by-the-seat-of-your-pants writer?<\/p>\n

AA:\u00a0<\/strong>I\u2019m a by-the-seat-of-my-pants writer. I usually have an idea of where things are going, but I mainly just sit my butt down and write. Sometimes, I\u2019ll brainstorm, if I get exceptionally stuck.<\/p>\n

NA:\u00a0<\/strong>Do you have quirky writing habits?<\/p>\n

AA:\u00a0<\/strong>I don\u2019t think it\u2019s quirky, but I like to have specific playlists, specific songs that guide my muse through the story. I also have all the settings on Word to my preference as well.<\/p>\n

NA:\u00a0<\/strong>What do you like to do when you\u2019re not writing?<\/p>\n

AA:\u00a0<\/strong>I\u2019m pretty much always writing\u2026it\u2019s kind of an obsession. But when I make myself take down time between novels, I\u2019m usually researching and watching Jurassic Park over and over again!<\/p>\n

NA:\u00a0<\/strong>Why did you choose the shirt you have on?<\/p>\n

AA:\u00a0<\/strong>It\u2019s a very hot day today, so I needed something light and airy, and it\u2019s my Jurassic Park t-shirt, so it\u2019s a favourite of mine. You can obviously tell there\u2019s a theme that I like Jurassic Park and dinosaurs! Haha.<\/p>\n

NA:\u00a0<\/strong>What errand\/chore do you despise the most?<\/p>\n

AA:\u00a0<\/strong>I despise cleaning the bathroom sink! But does the gym count as a chore? I hate that too, but I do that three times a week.<\/p>\n

NA:\u00a0<\/strong>What famous person would you like to have dinner with?<\/p>\n

AA:\u00a0<\/strong>I\u2019d love to have dinner with Henry Cavil! Superman and a candlelit dinner for two, sounds like another novel in the making!<\/p>\n

NA:\u00a0<\/strong>What are you working on now?<\/p>\n

AA:\u00a0<\/strong>I am currently working on Goode Pain 03, Rigged. There will be five in the series, plus a spin-off set of novels, in the same universe, but different characters. Very exciting!<\/p>\n

\u201cHello,\u201d I said.<\/p>\n

He turned, his brilliant brown eyes, the colour of chocolate, staring into me, surprising me. They were deep, beautiful, stunning. I was also hit with his cologne, which again, was manly. It was what I expected, what most men wore, too, but it nearly floored me.<\/p>\n

\u201cWell, hello,\u201d he said, his eyes quickly looking me over, taking in the dress.<\/p>\n

The woman in red, who happened to also be blonde, sighed as she saw that she lost to the younger woman. She turned and walked away, leaving us to our conversation.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt seems I\u2019ve saved you from an awkward encounter,\u201d I said, glancing to the older woman, who was now at another young business man\u2019s side.<\/p>\n

\u201cYes, I should thank you,\u201d he replied with a frown as he looked to the other woman.<\/p>\n

\u201cNo need,\u201d I said, \u201cI\u2019m really over here to cause trouble anyways.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cYou aren\u2019t busy with your boyfriend or husband?\u201d he asked, unsure.<\/p>\n

I burst out laughing, shaking my head. \u201cNo, no boyfriend, and certainly no husband.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cNot the marrying type?\u201d he asked.<\/p>\n

\u201cNot really the relationship type,\u201d I replied, eyeing him hungrily.<\/p>\n

I had let my puppy eat me out twice more on Thursday evening, but I actually hadn\u2019t had sex in almost a year. A lot of people think that BDSM is all about sex, but even with my puppy, he didn\u2019t really expect actual intercourse. He expected me to Dominate him; but of course there was a sexual aspect with him, in denying him his orgasm and such. He wanted to be my puppy and all that it entailed. He didn\u2019t pay me for the pleasure. I met him at a BDSM club and he worked his way up to being allowed to be my puppy.<\/p>\n

But, it was also true that though I hadn\u2019t had sex in almost a year, it had been nearly eight years since I had had a relationship. It didn\u2019t interest me.<\/p>\n

\u201cOh,\u201d he said, nodding as he looked to his champagne, his eyes constantly coming back to me. \u201cAnd what type are you?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThe casual type,\u201d I said with a little shrug, the heat from his body sinking into me, making me feel drunk almost. I tried to clear my mind, even as I stared into those brilliant brown eyes.<\/p>\n

\u201cCasual is good,\u201d he said, faintly smiling, obviously enjoying looking at me.<\/p>\n

\u201cI guess I should let you in on a little secret,\u201d I said, leaning into him seductively.<\/p>\n

\u201cOh? What\u2019s that?\u201d he asked, doing the same, playing along.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m breaking the rules,\u201d I said with a little sly smile.<\/p>\n

His brow furrowed. \u201cWhat rules?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m Ava Goode,\u201d I said, putting out my hand to shake his.<\/p>\n

His eyes widened a little bit, his brow high on his head before he cleared his throat, nodding. \u201cI should have recognized you from your picture in your father\u2019s office.\u201d<\/p>\n

I winced a little. \u201cLet me guess, my high school graduation photo? My hair is a mass of golden blonde curls?\u201d<\/p>\n

He let loose a sexy smile. \u201cYep, that\u2019s the one.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cHow embarrassing,\u201d I said, as I covered my face a little with my hand. \u201cI\u2019ve asked him a hundred times to get rid of that thing.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s cute,\u201d he said, looking me up and down. \u201cI\u2019d say that he keeps it as a reminder to his staff that they should see you as his daughter, a little girl, rather than a beautiful young woman that stands before me.\u201d<\/p>\n

I felt my cheeks flush warmly, looking to him from under my long lashes, that little smile spreading across my lips. \u201cI believe you\u2019re flirting with me, Mister Burton.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI believe you are also guilty of it, Miss Goode,\u201d he said, his eyes ablaze with that hunger I knew all too well. But\u2026something was different. It sent a thrill through me, one I hadn\u2019t felt in a long time.<\/p>\n

Oh no, let\u2019s not go there, I thought to myself.<\/p>\n
